At the beginning of May 2006 an information centre opened in Goseck Castle, near the solar observatory. The Infopoint occupies four renovated castle rooms specially designed in keeping with their archaeo-astronomical subject. Here, visitors are given an experience-oriented, in-depth preparation for independent or guided exploration of the ring-ditch site. A stop at the Infopoint is also recommended following a visit to the site. Personnel at the centre can answer questions and provide further information on the excavation and reconstruction work, on astronomy as it relates to the observatory, and on life in the Late Stone Age, when the observatory was built. Well-suited to all ages, the friendly presentations attract many visitors wishing to learn more about this monumental structure. The Infopoint is operated by the Gosecker Sonnenobservatorium e.V., which also puts on the semi-annual solstice events at the observatory site.
