The State Museum of Prehistory in Halle is home to one of the most important archaeological collections in Europe. Here, in Germany's oldest building dedicated to prehistoric archaeology, sensational finds are presented in striking exhibits.
On the basis of the latest research, artefacts have been selected which invite the visitor on a spectacular journey into times long past – a journey to the roots of European cultural history. More than one human species is encountered along the way. Between the Palaeolithic camping ground in Bilzingsleben (370,000 years old) and the genuine Sky Disc of Nebra (3,600 years old) lie countless startling discoveries, gripping individual fates and fascinating stories of generations from our distant past.
